The Center for the Study of Science and Religion is, from time to time, looking for a few good Columbia University undergraduates to intern at the CSSR in a number of capacities. The CSSR has traditionally been run by undergraduates, filling roles often performed at other centers/organizations by graduate students and postdocs. As such, the work environment is relatively relaxed and the administrative structure relatively flat. We feel that these two elements of the CSSR’s work environment lead to a positive experience for all students working at the CSSR. While working at the CSSR, students are free to engage in activities outside their main job description; creativity, enthusiasm and maximum involvement are all highly encouraged.
Beyond the surface level job requirements, all CSSR interns and employees – undergraduate, graduate, postdoctoral, and tenured – can share many responsibilities of running a world class academic center, and thus greatly enhance their education and access to Columbia resources, congruent with their formal studies and plans, or even radically forwarding them.
